The Citrus Socialist is the publication of the Orlando Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.  We are a local organization devoted to building a brighter, more democratic future for “The City Beautiful” and Central Florida. We fight for a democratic and humanist government and economy that promotes the interests of the working class against profits and numb complacency. All of our writing, regardless of form or genre, shares this goal of socially-conscious change.  Under the Orlando DSA’s banner, we stand in solidarity with Palestine, queer rights, housing justice, racial equality, gender equality, green energy and universal healthcare.

Our goal is to lift the voices of the working class community, starting right here in your local Orlando neighborhood. To accomplish this, The Citrus Socialist publishes our members’ writing that assesses how our world is, and how we organize for a socialist one. We publish work written by members of the Orlando DSA chapter. We accept news articles, creative writing, interviews/profiles, internal analysis, and opinion pieces, as well as publish ODSA chapter communication.
